ditional painter, is chairman of Shang¬hai Artists' Association and director of Shanghai Art Gallery. Born in 1931 in Lanxi, Zhejiang Province, Mr. Fang graduated from Zhejiang Arts Institute (now China Arts Institute). Mr. Fang

was once vice chairman of Zhejiang Artists' Association. In 1983 he was vice director of Shanghai Chinese Traditional Painting Academy and in 1985 was elected standing member of the Board of China Art¬ists' Association.

Mr. Fang specializes in the painting of figures and landscapes. His figures are always natural, vivid, full of vigor and feelings. Mr. Fang likes to travel broadly and mix with people from all walks of life. He thus draws much inspirations from them. His works is of realistic
